The Legend of Zang Hai Episode 5 Recap. Starring Xiao Zhan and Zhang Jingyi.

The Legend of Zang Hai Episode 5 RecapStarring Xiao Zhan and Zhang Jingyi.

In Episode 5 of Legend of Zang Hai, the tension escalates as Zang Hai navigates a treacherous web of schemes, alliances, and hidden dangers within the Marquis of Pingjin’s residence.

The episode begins with Yang Zhen, Zhuang Luyin’s trusted military adviser, orchestrating subtle sabotage against Zang Hai to undermine his growing influence. As part of this effort, Yang Zhen assigns Zang Hai the tedious task of inventorying antiques gifted by the emperor.

When Zang Hai accidentally triggers a hidden mechanism leading to a secret chamber, he discovers an unexpected intruder: Zhuang Zhixing, Zhuang Luyin’s reckless second son.

Zhuang Zhixing, desperate to cover up his gambling debts at the Zhen Tower, attempts to steal a golden gourd but is caught by Zang Hai. Realizing that Zhuang Zhixing doesn’t recognize him due to his altered appearance, Zang Hai confiscates the stolen item and promises secrecy. This encounter plants the seed for Zang Hai’s plan to use Zhuang Zhixing as a pawn in his quest for revenge.

Meanwhile, Yang Zhen devises a sinister plot to host a Hongmen Banquet—a thinly veiled trap—for Zang Hai at the Zhen Tower. Inviting Chu Huaiming and Qu Jiao as witnesses, Yang Zhen tries to force Zang Hai into submission through humiliation and threats.

Xiao Zhi, a vulnerable singer brought in to entertain, becomes a tool in their manipulation. When Zang Hai refuses to comply with Yang Zhen’s demands—even declining a promotion—Yang Zhen shifts the blame onto Xiao Zhi, brutally forcing her to ingest a red-hot coal as punishment.

Xiang Antu intervenes just in time, dispersing the group and ordering medical care for Xiao Zhi. Her intervention saves Zang Hai from further harm, though the incident leaves him shaken. Recognizing Xiang Antu’s potential value as an ally, Zang Hai cautiously accepts her offer to shelter Xiao Zhi temporarily. Later, while escorting the drunken Zhuang Zhixing back to the residence, Zang Hai subtly probes for information about Zhuang Luyin’s weaknesses.

Gao Ming warns Zang Hai about the increasing hostility from Yang Zhen and his allies, but Zang Hai remains resolute. He sees these challenges as proof that Zhuang Luyin is beginning to notice him—a crucial step toward achieving his ultimate goal of vengeance. Meanwhile, ominous events unfold at the imperial tomb, where guards report strange noises emanating from the late emperor’s resting place.

Sensing an opportunity, Yang Zhen and Chu Huaiming conspire to send Zang Hai to investigate, hoping it will lead to his demise. As thunderstorms rage outside, the stage is set for Zang Hai to face even greater perils—and uncover deeper secrets—in his relentless pursuit of justice.
