The episode begins with Zang Hai narrowly escaping death after Yang Zhen and Chu Huaiming’s failed assassination plot. Instead of succumbing, Zang Hai turns the tables, framing Yang Zhen as a sacrificial offering to the Empress Dowager’s tomb.

He instructs Gao Ming to manipulate floodgates to control water flow to the imperial tomb, ensuring the Duanlong Stone seals the tomb securely.
However, danger lingers: censors accuse Zhuang Luyin of murder at the tomb, and Zhuang Zhifu plots to frame Zang Hai as Qu Jiao to avoid blame. Zang Hai anticipates this, and when Qu Jiao dies suddenly, he breathes a sigh of relief.
Zhuang Luyin rewards Zang Hai with a promotion, granting him a residence near his own and assigning loyal servants—an honor even Yang Zhen never received.
Yet Zhuang Luyin’s intentions remain unclear, hinting at future tests for Zang Hai. Meanwhile, Zang Hai meets Xiang Antu and Xu Ben at the Pillow Tower, where Xu Ben attempts to bribe him with gold and jewels. Zang Hai declines, deducing Xiang Antu is the true owner.
Their tense exchange ends with Xiang Antu demanding a private conversation, setting the stage for future collaboration or confrontation.
